Alexander's House

A magnificent new large villa in one of the most beautiful settings in northern Kefalonia

The road from Fiskardo rises steadily until it flattens out at the hilltop village of Manganos. Once through the village it is lined with cypress and oak trees, concealing one of the finest viewpoints in northern Kefalonia. Beyond the trees the land drops steeply into a wooded valley broken only by the red rooftops of the small hamlet of Matsoukata with its old terraced fields. Where the trees end the Ithaka Channel begins, framed by the island and the mountains of Lefkada.  Alexander’s House has been built at this very spot.

Such a setting deserves a house to match, and much care has been lavished on the design both inside and out. Approached by a private drive with automatic gates, it is set on a broad raised terrace surrounded by gardens, with every main window opening to the front and the view. Even the infinity swimming pool enjoys the same view.

The main entrance is at the rear of the house leading into a large open plan living room with separate dining area to the side. Large double French windows open onto the front terrace, and the décor, fittings and furnishings have been carefully chosen to match the colours and texture of the setting. There is a fully fitted kitchen and cloakroom at the rear. A hallway leads to bedrooms on the ground floor, each with en suite bathroom and French windows opening onto the terrace. The first floor master bedroom has double French windows at the front opening onto a balcony overlooking the pool, with its own en suite bathroom and a large walk-in closet. The view from the side window over unbroken woodland to the Adriatic beyond is equally attractive.

Between the pool and barbecue area lies a separate one bedroomed guest house, with living/dining area, kitchenette, bathroom and first floor double bedroom.
